What a Paralegal Can Do for You
As paralegals, we are licensed to represent individuals or corporations in legal proceedings involving:
- Small Claims Court (Up to $25,000)
- Ontario Court of Justice under the Provincial Offences Act. This includes traffic offenses
- Summary conviction offenses under the Criminal Code where the maximum penalty does not exceed six months imprisonment
- Administrative tribunals, including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Landlord & Tenant Board, the Labor Relations Board as well as the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and many more.
A Paralegal is not required to work under the supervision of a lawyer.
Paralegals are licensed under the Law Society of Upper Canada (the same regulatory body that licenses lawyers in Ontario). Paralegals are also required to carry Errors and Omissions Insurance.
